Pleasant, sonorous tunes, masterfully performed by Kushal Das (along with tabla accompaniment) on the surbahar, so to say a big brother of the sitar. This almost extinct instrument fascinates through its deep, nightly timbre, and as a matter of fact the instrument usually is tuned a fourth lower than the sitar. The surbahar may be considered a speciality and soft alternative where the sitar sounds insinuating and penetrant.
